Hunter and Gary Clark, the founders of Blue Lake Striker, set out to create a fishing pole holder that wouldn’t miss a bite. Hunter’s grandfather developed the first prototype for what would become the Blue Lake Striker—a tool that allowed him to fish on cool Utah days while waiting in the comfy confines of his warm truck.
Hunter and Gary ran with the idea and began formulating a plan to modernize their grandfather’s special tool. Gary tested several technologies throughout the three-year design process before the pair settled on the Blue Lake Striker’s simple two-piece construction.
Since the Blue Lake Striker sets hooks and tightens fishing lines automatically, it helps even the most novice fisherman make sure the catch of the day doesn’t wriggle away.
The Clarks soon realized they were on to something, having developed both the perfect fishing aid and something people would want to use.
“It’s never too late to start, and I think it’s really cool that the American dream never dies,” Hunter said. “And it doesn’t matter how old you are or what you’re doing, you can make it happen.”
