Top 10 THINGS TO DO DURING A QUARANTINE
In an abundance of caution due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many of our dedicated Renasant Nation followers are practicing social distancing as well as staying home. As a “thank you” from Renasant, we’re offering you our top 10 things to do during a quarantine – as collected by yours truly across Renasant Nation.
If you buy books but never have the time read, this is your chance! While you’re on semi-house arrest for the foreseeable future, try to read all of those books piled up next to your bed.
You have a good bit of time on your hands and coincidentally, several closets and drawers you’ve been staring into for years that need cleaning out. Now is the perfect time! Go through everything and sort by what you wear or use regularly and what you don’t – you may even find something you haven’t seen in years. Pro Tip: if there are hanging clothes that you haven’t worn but think you might still need them, hang the hanger “reverse” to remind you of this item. If you still have it hanging reverse after a long period, it’s time to remove it from your reserve clothing selection.
If you are quarantined for longer periods of time, it’s important exercise. Go for a quick walk, do a few sit-ups or push-ups, or even have a dance party – especially if you have children at home. Turn your favorite playlist up and burn a few calories!
Don’t lie, you’ve been waiting on this one haven’t you? Movies, shows, documentaries – there is a ton of content across dozens of streaming platforms to dive into today. Whether you’re dwindling your list down of stuff you’ve been meaning to watch or looking for something new, happy watching.
A great way to pass time is to pull a game out or even create one of your own! Card games, board games, video games, and puzzles can keep any and all busy for hours. For those with kids at home, there are numerous educational games online to stay on top of relevant skills until school is back in session.
Why wait any longer to learn that skill you’ve been wanting to explore? Is cross-stitching, painting, gardening, or learning a new language on your list? Go for it – you can find just about anything you wish to learn online.
Even though you’re quarantined, you still need to eat. Why not try a new recipe, or bake something you haven’t perfected yet? If you feel like trying something new, open a cookbook to a random page, close your eyes, and pick out a dish to cook. Yeah, good luck with that, but bon appetit!
At Renasant Nation, we’re fans of the Lego block. You name it, we’ve built it (or at least tried to), and we’re sure you have too. If you and your children are staring at a box of blocks, try this 30 day Lego challenge.
With the kids at home, we know they need things to occupy their time and keep them busy beyond just their school lessons. Why not take a trip? A virtual trip, that is – from the comfort and safety of your home, you can visit aquariums, zoos, art museums, and national parks at the click of a button. Happy virtual traveling!
With some extra time on your hands, it may be the time to deep clean your home, especially if it’s been on your to-do list for a while. Cleaning the floors, baseboards, windows, and even pressure-washing the outside will make your home look like new.
We hope this list of things to do during your time at home helps you and your family pass the time and sparks some creativity. Please be safe and conscious of those around you in the days and weeks to come.
